6.1 Sodium Bicarbonate Cleaning

graphicIndustrial cleaning has evolved to a whole new level in recent years. Improvised cleaning techniques have evolved that have increased the efficiency of the cleaning process as well as reduced the side effects on the surfaces being cleaned.
Sodium Bicarbonate Cleaning
Sodium bicarbonate cleaning is one of the most preferred methods practiced for indust . [1]
Today, most industrial sites prefer using sodium bicarbonate cleaning over other conventional cleaning methods because of the above mentioned advantages. [2]

Absorbs Odors

A box of baking soda in the refrigerator or in covered some will absorb odors. Use it to help combat foot odors. For smelly carpets sprinkle sodium bicarbonate on the surface, let it stand for fifteen to twenty minutes, vacuum your carpet with your vacuum cleaner and carpet is fresh smelling.

Foot odor is also the result of wearing shoes and/or socks with inadequate air ventilation for many hours. Because human feet are densely covered with sweat glands, perspiration of the feet can combine with surface bacteria to produce odor.[24] Sprinkling baking soda in armpits will help kill and prevent bacteria which cause body odour. Baking soda has to be sprinkled as soon as one finishes a bath.[76] Do this once every 2 weeks and your drain should remain unclogged and odour free. [77]

Shiny Teeth

Apply a small amount of sodium bicarbonate to your toothbrush. This will naturally clean and polish your teeth. Do not overuse this method of teeth whitening. With repetitive use it can break down the enamel coating that is on your teeth.

Brushing the teeth with cranberry juice leaves the teeth and mouth feeling very fresh and clean. After brushing one can rinse again and expectorate or swallow the juice.[9]

Floor Cleaner

The main ingredient used in making your own floor cleaner is water. Mix one heaping teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate into 12oz. of water. Add one more teaspoon of borax, and then add 6oz. of vinegar into the solution. Have some fun and take note of the chemical reaction between vinegar and sodium bicarbonate once vinegar is added. You’ll see a white fizz which emits carbon dioxide gas. Use a large container to avoid spillage when vinegar meets sodium bicarbonate. Finally, at your favorite fragrance such as lemon, essential oil or freaken drops from your favorite fruit. What’s the solution is mixed pour it into one bucket of hot water and you are ready to clean your floors.

Avoid using vinegar on a marble surface as it may pit the surface. White vinegar is safe for use on all colour-fast fabrics other than cotton and linen.[23]

Top Environmentally Friendly Ingredients

Environmentally friendly cleaners should be on the top of your list for cleaning your home. If green friendly cleaning products are not available in your neighborhood, why not make them yourself? One of the main ingredients for cleaning in your home is bicarbonate of soda. Another ingredient you may want to add to your list of favorite cleaning ingredients is borax salt. It is also very good for cleaning surfaces naturally. Fresh lemons are also used to leave your cleaning smelling fresh. Lemons are great for removing a film of grease. Of course, we cannot forget the number one natural ingredient for cleaning in the home, white vinegar. What about wood services? The best natural ingredients for cleaning the wood surface are beeswax or extra virgin olive oil.

Cleaning with simple, natural ingredients can be a testimony of our dedication to an integrated, organic way of life. [6]

Window Cleaning

With a very simple solution of water and vinegar there is no need to waste your money on products such as Windex for cleaning windows. Water and vinegar can be mixed together at approximately 50/50 mixing solution. Once you prepare your mix in a bowl you can pour it into a spray bottle. I like to also add fragrance with lemon, essential oils or fruit drops such as grapefruit or lime. You can use this cleaning solution on stainless steel surfaces, windows, tiles, and mirrors.

Side Effects in Athletes

The main active ingredient in baking soda is Sodium Bicarbonate. Athletes ingest it to reduce the lactic acidic content in their body. Muscles produce acids when under stress. These acids can be reduced by adding bi-carb sodium to your body. You can consume too much and end up with side effects like cramps, emesis diarrhea, and nausea.

Consumption of less than 300 milligrams per kilogram of body weight is a safe intake.
