His name is Thomas Anderson. during his obsessed research online trying to learn more about the Matrix coded messages keep appearing on his monitor. Suddenly his is being pursued by evil "agents". These agents eventually lead him to.

Laurence Fishburne- Morpheus

Neo is hesitant and not sure what to believe, Morpheus seems curiously trustworthy, almost like he knew him. He offers Neo an opportunity to learn the answer to his question, "What is the Matrix?" Neo has to choose between a green or red pill before Morpheus will allow him to proceed. Neo chooses the red pill.

Carrie-Anne Moss- Trinity

Ends up falling in love with Neo towards the end of the movie. During the movie she is Neo's sidekick, having to help fend off the "agents". Her love for Neo brings hime back to life in the latter part of the movie by a kiss.

Hugo Weaving- Agent Smith

Once Neo becomes proficient at grasping the Matrix he has to rescue Morpheus. In order to do this he has to fight the "Agents". They seem impervious in the beginning until Neo discover's even greater control of the Matrix. Agent Smith appears to be the most stone cold and ruthless of all agents. He wears dark sunglasses for most of the movie accept when Neo makes them tilt sideways during a fight.

Gloria Foster- Oracle

Neo is clinically dead while in the Matrix. He is killed by an agent. In the real world Trinity is told that she is going to fall in love with the loved one. Trinity believes that Neo is that one. She is heartbroken when she learns of his death and won't accept it. She kisses Neo and brings him back to life. The oracle is a happy old lady with a strange power.

Joe Pantoliano- Cypher

He is part of the group Neo is in that is fighting evil. He appears to be loyal to the cause, but looks can be deceiving. The whole time he is posing as a spy an giving information to the agents whoa re trying to capture Morpheus. His deal is a free pass into the matrix for life. With his disloyalty he is responsible for the deaths of Morpheus , Neo, Trinity and Tank.

Marcus Chong- Tank

HE was the keeper of the ship from killer sentinels attacking the ship. He was a brilliant programmer. When crew members were plugged in he would watch for their safety. Tank is a real person that was not grown synthetically but the machines. He has a brother named Dozer who is also real. Because they are real people they don't have the standard jacks that others have. These jacks are used to plug in to the Matrix.

Morpheus: What is the Matrix? Control. The Matrix is a computer-generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into this. [holds up a Duracell battery] Neo: No, I don't believe it. It's not possible. Morpheus: I didn't say it would be easy, Neo. I just said it would be the truth.
