 Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral. It is composed of long, thin fibres which are mined. Asbestos is divided up into two groups- serpentine and amphibole. The uniqueness of the 2 groupings is their crystalline structure. Chrysotile chronicles for ninety-five percent of the asbestos used, and is the unique kind in the serpentine class. Commonly referred to as “white asbestos” which is its innate color.
There are five types of asbestos uncovered in the fibrous Tremolite family. Amosite is the most commonly used in this type of building material. In its natural state it is dark brown in color, and is most most commonly utilized as tube insulation wrap for older boiler pipings.
Prior to knowledge of health effects were known, due to its availability, low cost, strength, and naturally fireproofing abilities,  asbestos has been commonly utilized. Attic roofing materials, wallboard, Insulation was most commonly practiced, appearing as though it was a popcorn style sprayed substance, much the same as your ceiling texture.
The word asbestos comes from the Greek meaning: literally “inextinguishable” referencing its primary usage as a thermal insulation.

 Although it was banned, the ban was subverted for items for which a reasonable switch could not be obtained.
You may never know for certain if your building has asbestos without researching the substance. Though a licensed Asbestos Inspector will advise you what materials are suspect for asbestos. This is a fairly affordable routine.

Asbestos warts - induced when the sharp fibers are embedded in the skin and Mould and Asbestoscome overgrown stimulating benign wart-like growings.
Pleural Plaques - very smal fibrous or part calcified elaborated area which can be seen on X-rays of individuals in contact with asbestos. Rarely becoming malignant nor normally cause any lung disability
Diffuse pleural thickening - similar to above and on occassion can be concerned with asbestosis. Rarely does this cause lung impairment but generally no symptoms is demonstrated unless contamination was extreme .
