Why a Rescue Dog?

Choosing a rescue dog is a good to decision to make, but you must make it wisely and research your preferred breed and dogs that are available for adoption. All of our rescue dogs were strays and turned out nice n' lovable. This is a question I ask myself over and over would ever want to pay for a dog from a breeder? By rescuing you are helping out the volunteer rescue groups that foot the bill for these lovable critters. You are helping out a lovable canine that needs love and will likely get one of the kindest pets you have ever owned. If you have made up your mind to take in a rescued dog, make contact with the rescue kennel and talk to them about their rescue dogs. Once you decide remember you are giving an older dog (often well trained) a chance to find what was once lost.a happy home

You may be a true dog lover but don't have enough money to buy prime stock. That being the case, you want to consider a Dog Rescue organization. Over the past 10 years, breed rescue groups have become n ever increasing source of obtaining great family pets. Most (but not all) rescue groups tend to specialize in one particular breed. That is another signal to look for that might indicate good puppy parents= good dogs.

The Rottie- My Personal Dog of Choice

I personally love all types of dogs but have always chosen the Rottweiler as my favorite. I have owned 2 Rotties that have lived healthy happy lives and am currently on my third. Each one of these dogs was a rescue dogs, simply because I see no reason to buy prime stock when there are many abandon or stray dogs that will be everything a prime stock canine would be.sometimes more! Shadow, my current Rottie was slated for euthanization as a result of fear aggression (showed her teeth and growled at everyone she met). I wanted a challenge in my life so I took her on. I hired an animal communicator to stress test her and determine if she could be helped. It was determine there was hope, so for the next 3 months we worked with Shadow to see why she felt the need to show unwarranted aggression. Unfortunately, she had been abused in her first year and that was likely the reason for this behavior. She simply did not know how to react to a kind human hand. Despite her obsession with squirrels ;-) Shadow has been with me for 8 years now and is nothing short of a hilariously lovable dog.

Other Dog Breeds to be Aware of

There are also many German shepherd rescue operations in the world that find homes for German shepherd dogs and puppies. German Shepherds are also known to have aggressive traits which are also the reason why they find themselves in the slammer. Quite often this is the result of poorly educated owners that really have no idea the intelligence they are dealing with. These dogs are similar to children in many ways and require your guidance to help show right from wrong. Once you realize this and invest your time in training the reward is a true friend for life with an endless supply of unconditional love.

Another dog breed that has aggressive tendencies is the American Pit Bull. Terriers require a lot of care and attention. If they do not receive the proper TLC you can end up with an undesirable weapon that is next to impossible to control. That is not an option with this breed. Given the proper upbringing the pit can be the same as any other lovable domestic dog. Because many Pit Bull owners abuse or do not understand this breed they are also a highly abandon breed. There are many organizations that will accept Pit Bulls from owners that may want to abandon their dogs for whatever reason, if you are one of these people, for god's sake find a rescue for your Pit-Bull; the alternative for this breed is almost certain euthanization. Dog Owner Beware

Remember that canine owners give up their pets for a number of reasons, most of which is the owner's gross miscalculation in the responsibilities of dog ownership. Your pet is family once adopted in. It is up to you to treat them appropriately as such. Whatever the name they go by they will always come running to you and provide a unique form of lifetime companionship for the family to enjoy!
