6.3 Sodium Bicarbonate Industrial Cleaning

graphicIndustrial cleaning has evolved to a whole new level in recent years. Improvised cleaning techniques have evolved that have increased the efficiency of the cleaning process as well as reduced the side effects on the surfaces being cleaned.

Natural Industrial Strength Cleaning

Chemical paint stripping is a common method used in the automotive industry to remove old paint from cars. An alternative natural method to do the same job is weak start blasting. Wheat starch blasting systems reform the same task at approximately 50% of the cost of chemical removal. Weak blasting is environmentally friendly.

Soda Blasting

Instead of using harsh chemicals typically used to clean high usage production machines, strip paint surfaces, refinish brickwork or remove graffiti soda blasting can be employed. Most companies that perform soda blasting use biodegradable materials and it is water soluble. That means after the operation has been performed it is very easy to clean up without the need of chemical cleaners.

Soda Blasting is Environmentally Friendly

Many other methods such as water blasting, sand blasting or chemical cleaning, are too abrasive to the surface and are not graphicenvironmentally friendly. These methods can also be hazardous to the user.[71] Unlike sandblasting, the metal is not eroded a away. Even plastics and fiberglass can be soda blasted.[72] Soda blasting is a new paint stripping and cleaning technology that propels a bicarbonate-of- soda media (via compressed air) onto the area to be cleaned. This process removes paint and contaminate without harming the underlying surface.[73]

What is Soda Ash

Soda ash, baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is produced naturally or manmade. A Belgian chemical engineer invented another method of producing baking soda in the latter part of the 1800’s. this process went on to become adapted in the united states of America. At the time the usa was using the Leblanc process, which was replaced by this one. Special systems were also developed by companies to capture the emissions from smokestacks and convert them into soda ash or sodium bicarbonate. This was done by neutralize a shun of the acids which are recycled in the chemical industry.

Industrial Cleaning Chemicals

If you can get 'proper' glass chemical beakers then all well and good - the graduations on the side to help to take some of the guesswork out of making-up the solutions. However, shallow dishes and bowls are often better than beakers for most work - fishing a coin from a hot beaker of lavatory cleaner can be tricky and a little dangerous at times.[61] Each of the primary chemical components is nontoxic and nonhazardous as stated in its respective Material Safety Data Sheet. In one embodiment, the gel starts with a two- component clear liquid that is composed primarily of water.[62] If severe enough, it leads to the chemical salt residues clogging faucets, clothes and dishwashers, and refrigerator icemakers. One of the most annoying manifestations of hard water, though, is the ugly deposits it leaves on your bathroom fixtures.[63]

Blasting and Aqueous Cleaning

There are blaster cleaners, pumps and special cleaning equipment that are ego friendly. One of the most popular forms of heavy duty industrial cleaning is so to blasting. These systems are highly productive and are easily cleaned up after the task has been performed by water. Depending on the penetration requirements different abrasive media is used. It is usually the operator of the independent control that makes this decision. It is a nondestructive means of automotive restoration, industrial machine maintenance, paint stripping, Grease removal, rust removal, Salt removal, masonry cleaning, food processing machine cleaning, equipment cleaning and boat cleaning/ stain removal. The compare ibl conventional method of soda blasting is sandblasting. Sandblasting is more damaging to surfaces.

It was used to safely clean and restore the exterior surface of the Statue of Liberty in the 1980's. Soda blasting was graphicoffered as a more efficient, non-damaging and environmentally- friendly alternative to chemical paint stripping and sandblasting of autos by manufacturers in the 1990's.[82] With proper care, delicate substrates can be cleaned without damage. [83] As a bonus, we can soda blast over the abrasive blasted surface to retard flash rust and buy you some time before you need to clean and prime the surface. [84]
